Handprint and footprint jewellery transforms your child’s real print into a beautifully wearable keepsake. The distinctive curves, contours and strongest natural lines of your child’s print are carefully engraved into precious metal, preserving the character and individuality of the original impression in miniature form.
Unlike generic baby jewellery, each piece is entirely individual — created from your child’s own unique print and handcrafted to order in our UK workshop.
Both handprints and footprints can be taken successfully from birth, although many parents find footprints easier to capture before those little fingers begin to uncurl. We can work with prints you already have — including photographs of treasured impressions — or you can purchase one of our safe, mess-free, non-toxic print kits for taking prints at home.
While there are several simple ways to capture a handprint yourself, our inkless kits are designed to give the clearest detail and are especially easy to use. Many families also choose to keep an extra set of prints for a baby book or memory box as a lasting keepsake.
If you’re unsure whether your print will be suitable, you’re very welcome to send it to us for guidance before placing your order.
Our handprint and footprint jewellery is available in:
All solid gold handprint jewellery is independently hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, guaranteeing purity and quality. Sterling silver jewellery is hallmarked when above 7.78 grams, although we can easily arrange for any silver piece to be hallmarked if required.

Established in 2012, our silver & gold handprint and footprint jewellery is handcrafted in the UK by an experienced goldsmith. Each piece is made with care and attention, and we’ve created meaningful keepsakes for thousands of satisfied customers.

Your baby's handprint or footprint is permanently transferred to precious metal using precision laser engraving, ensuring lasting depth and clarity, so your print will not fade with wear.

Many of our designs can be personalised with your own handwriting at no extra cost, creating a truly unique and deeply sentimental keepsake.

We use recycled silver and gold wherever possible, and all of our packaging is thoughtfully designed to be eco-friendly.
Handprint and Footprint jewellery can be created at any age, even from birth.
For very young babies, you may find taking a footprint easier, as those little fingers tend to be firmly curled during the early weeks, although a handprint is certainly possible with care. You may find it easier to take a handprint when baby is in a milk-induced deep sleep.
Handprints from older children, teenagers, and adults are usually strong and well-defined. You may need to press the palm harder to get a full print.
You can upload a clear photograph or scan of a handprint or footprint when placing your order, or e-mail your prints to studio@holduponheart.co.uk We also offer easy-to-use hand and footprint kits if you prefer which can be ordered here.
Yes. We can use hand and footprints taken by the hospital, or prints captured in paint at home. We can work with photos of clay impressions or even a direct photo of the hand or foot. Our handprint kits give the most detailed results, but other types of handprints still have their charm.
Yes. We carefully and sympathetically enhance handprints and footprints to achieve the clearest possible result, while always remaining true to the original print provided.
We will tidy obvious smudges or remove accidental duplicate impressions where needed. However, we do not artificially add detail or fill in missing areas unless you specifically request it. Preserving the authenticity and character of your child’s original print is always our priority.
If you are unsure about the quality of your print, you are very welcome to send it to us for guidance before placing your order.
For sterling silver jewellery, you can choose either a darkened (oxidised) print or a polished silver finish. Simply let us know your preference in the Order Notes box at checkout.
Our preference is usually for polished silver prints, and most of our products are pictured this way. If a design is shown with a darkened print, that is what you should expect to receive unless you request a polished finish instead.
For gold jewellery, prints cannot be darkened and will always have a polished finish.
For stainless steel jewellery, we create a silvery-white engraving designed to catch the light. The appearance may shift subtly between lighter and darker tones depending on how the light reflects on the surface.
Yes. We use advanced, high-spec laser technology to permanently engrave hand and footprints into silver and gold. This process creates a deep, precise engraving that will not fade or wear away over time, provided your jewellery is treated with normal care. To keep your piece looking its best, we simply recommend following our common-sense jewellery care guidance.
Unlike surface engraving methods that only mark the top layer of metal, our laser technology removes metal using a highly focused beam, creating exceptional depth and clarity. The result is a detailed, permanent engraving that is comparable in depth — and often deeper — than traditional impression techniques.
Our jewellery is crafted from hard-rolled precious metals, or traditionally cast where appropriate, ensuring strength and durability. This means your handprint engraving is not only beautifully detailed, but made to last.
Our handmade handprint and footprint jewellery is available in sterling silver and solid 9ct or 18ct gold, including yellow, rose, and white gold options. Most metal options are already priced on the site, but if not simply contact us for a quote. We also offer a carefully curated collection of engraved stainless steel handprint jewellery.
All our 9ct and 18ct gold pieces are independently hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office to guarantee purity. Our sterling silver pieces are only hallmarked when they weigh above 7.78 grams. However we can easily arrange for below weight silver pieces to be hallmarked should you wish, at additional cost plus additional processing time to allow for the piece to be sent away for assay.
