HALLMARKING

A Hallmark shows that an item has been independently tested by a UK assay office to determine its precious metal content. Hallmarked pieces show three marks; the Hold upon Heart sponsors mark, the metal purity and the mark of the Assay Office. Hold upon Heart are registered jewellers with the Birmingham Assay Office.

Our 9ct and 18ct gold pieces are always hallmarked.

Sterling silver does not require hallmarking by law unless a single piece weighs over 7.78 grams. Our underweight pieces are not routinely hallmarked and the majority of our silver charms, pendants and rings will weigh under 7.78 grams. Our lockets and bracelets tend to weigh more than 7.78 grams and are hallmarked. We are more than happy to arrange for an underweight silver item to be hallmarked on request. Simply let us know you would like your item hallmarking in the notes section when completing your purchase, but be aware that this will add an additional 2 weeks to the lead time.
