MEMORIAL ASHES JEWELLERY FOR MEN

Memorial jewellery is incredibly personal, but finding the right piece for a man can sometimes be surprisingly difficult. Not everyone wants something obviously sentimental and some men rarely wear jewellery at all. That is something I think about a great deal when designing memorial ashes jewellery for men.

WHAT IS MEMORIAL ASHES JEWELLERY?

Memorial ashes jewellery, or cremation jewellery, incorporates a very small amount of cremation ashes into a piece of jewellery that can be worn and kept close.

Only a symbolic amount is needed. At Hold Upon Heart we ask you to send approximately one teaspoon of ashes, although only a tiny proportion of this will actually be used in the finished piece. Any ashes remaining are carefully returned with your jewellery.  

MEN'S ASHES RINGS

A ring is perhaps one of the easiest pieces of memorial jewellery for a man to wear. It doesn't need to look obviously like cremation jewellery and, particularly with a wider band or signet-style design, it can feel very natural on the hand. MEMORIAL ASHES BRACELETS FOR MEN

For men who already wear a watch or bracelet, an ashes bracelet can be another very natural choice. We currently offer a leather bracelet with an imprinted ashes bead, alongside our substantial sterling silver Men's Ashes ID bracelet. We also offer our imprinted ashes charm disc on a leather wrap bracelet which is a nice option for a gent.

MEN'S ASHES NECKLACES AND DOG TAGS

A pendant worn beneath a shirt is perhaps one of the most private ways to carry someone's ashes. Our men's ashes necklaces and dog tags are deliberately simple in shape, including slim tags, discs and cross designs. They can be worn visibly, of course, but they can equally be tucked underneath clothing and kept close to the chest. For somebody uncomfortable with the idea of visibly wearing memorial jewellery, that privacy can make a necklace particularly appealing.

ASHES CUFFLINKS

Not every man wants to wear jewellery daily. That's one reason I particularly love memorial ashes cufflinks.

They allow somebody to carry a loved one with them on occasions when their absence may feel especially significant, such as a wedding, graduation, anniversary or another important family event. There is something incredibly poignant about being able to quietly include somebody who should have been there. Our men's collection includes both round and rectangular ashes cufflinks, including designs where the ashes are subtly incorporated into the silver. They don't immediately look like memorial jewellery, and that's precisely the point.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT ASHES JEWELLERY FOR HIM

If you're choosing memorial jewellery as a gift for a man, I'd start with what he already wears. If he wears rings, an ashes ring is likely to feel completely natural. If he wears leather bracelets or a watch, a memorial bracelet may sit comfortably alongside them. If he doesn't usually wear visible jewellery, a pendant hidden beneath his shirt could be ideal.

And if he doesn't wear jewellery at all? Cufflinks may be the answer.

Don't worry too much about choosing the piece that looks the most "memorial". Choose the piece that looks most like him. Because ultimately, memorial jewellery isn't really about the jewellery. It's about having something tangible to reach for when you miss somebody. A little weight on your finger, wrist or chest that quietly reminds you that part of them is still right there with you.
