Fingerprint jewellery captures the unique ridges and patterns of a real fingerprint and transforms them into a beautifully wearable keepsake. Every fingerprint is completely individual, making each piece of fingerprint jewellery deeply personal. At Hold Upon Heart, we carefully enhance and engrave each print to preserve its natural detail with clarity and precision.
Our fingerprint jewellery is available in:
All solid gold fingerprint jewellery is independently hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, guaranteeing purity and quality. Sterling silver jewellery is hallmarked when above 7.78 grams, although we can easily arrange for any silver piece to be hallmarked if required.
Taking a fingerprint is simple and can be done in just a few minutes:
We can also work from existing prints found on documents or treasured keepsakes, or with fingerprints taken by funeral directors.

Established in 2012, our fingerprint jewellery is handcrafted in the UK by an experienced goldsmith. Each piece is made with care and attention, and we’ve created meaningful keepsakes for thousands of satisfied customers.

Your fingerprint is permanently transferred to precious metal using precision laser engraving or traditional direct impression methods. These techniques ensure lasting depth and clarity, so your print will not fade with wear.

Many of our designs can be personalised with your own handwriting at no extra cost, creating a truly unique and deeply sentimental keepsake.

We use recycled silver and gold wherever possible, and all of our packaging is thoughtfully designed to be eco-friendly.
Fingerprint jewellery can be created at almost any age, although print clarity varies.
For babies, we generally find fingerprints are clearer from around 6 months old. Before this age, toe prints often produce better detail and can be a lovely alternative.
Fingerprints from older children, teenagers, and adults are usually strong and well-defined, making them ideal for engraving.
In elderly individuals, fingerprints can sometimes appear lighter or have small gaps due to natural changes in the skin. Similarly, prints taken from someone who has passed away may be less defined. However, in most cases there is still a clear section we can carefully enhance and work with to create a meaningful piece.
If you’re unsure about the quality of your print, you’re always welcome to send it to us for advice before placing your order.
Yes. We can often use fingerprints taken from existing documents, fingerprint moulds, or treasured keepsakes. As long as we can make our the fingerprint line detail, we will be able to work with it.
Yes — we carefully and sympathetically enhance fingerprints to achieve the clearest possible result, while always remaining true to the original print. Our goal is never to alter the character of the fingerprint, but to refine and prepare it so it engraves beautifully in metal.
It is completely normal for fingerprints — particularly from older adults — to show natural lines, cracks, or lighter areas within the print. These features are part of what makes each fingerprint unique, and they will be preserved in the finished engraving.
We apply the same careful enhancement process to handprints, footprints, and pawprints, ensuring the final design is clear, balanced, and faithful to the print you provide.

You can upload a clear photograph or scan of a pencil or ink fingerprint when placing your order. We also offer easy-to-use fingerprint ink kits if you prefer which can be ordered here.
Yes. We use advanced, high-spec laser technology to permanently engrave fingerprints into silver and gold. This process creates a deep, precise engraving that will not fade or wear away over time, provided your jewellery is treated with normal care. To keep your piece looking its best, we simply recommend following our common-sense jewellery care guidance.
Unlike surface engraving methods that only mark the top layer of metal, our laser technology removes metal using a highly focused beam, creating exceptional depth and clarity. The result is a detailed, permanent engraving that is comparable in depth — and often deeper — than traditional impression techniques.
Our jewellery is crafted from hard-rolled precious metals, or traditionally cast where appropriate, ensuring strength and durability. This means your fingerprint engraving is not only beautifully detailed, but made to last.
Our handmade fingerprint jewellery is available in sterling silver and solid 9ct or 18ct gold, including yellow, rose, and white gold options. Most metal options are already priced on the site, but if not simply contact us for a quote. We also offer a carefully curated collection of engraved stainless steel fingerprint jewellery.
All our 9ct and 18ct gold pieces are independently hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office to guarantee purity. Our sterling silver pieces are only hallmarked when they weigh above 7.78 grams. However we can easily arrange for below weight silver pieces to be hallmarked should you wish, at additional cost plus additional processing time to allow for the piece to be sent away for assay.
